Watchdoc - Archiving - Configure spool archiving for a queue
Principle
Archiving print queue spools requires several configuration steps:
-
enable spool archiving at the Watchdoc level;
-
enable spool archiving on the specific queue to be analysed;
-
apply a rule to specify the type of spools to be archived and the archiving frequency.
Procedure
Enable spool archiving
In the administration interface,
-
from the Main Menu, Configuration section, click on Advanced Configuration ;
-
in the [SERVEUR_IMPRESSION] > Advanced Configuration, interface, click on Document archiving:
-
in the Archiving configuration interface, tick the Settings box to activate archiving:

Configure the parameters section
In the Parameters section:
-
in the Directory field, enter the path to the directory where you want to save the archived files;
-
in the Compression section, tick the Compress archived documents box if you wish to enable compression, and then specify the desired compression type;
-
GZip (medium compression, fast);
-
BZip2 (high compression, slow):

-
Configure the Expert Mode section
In the Expert Mode section, settings allow you to set up an audit system for archiving operations to verify that they are working correctly:
-
cochez la case Surveiller les opérations d'archivage si vous souhaitez garder trace des opérations d'archivage dans un fichier qui sera sauvegardé ;
-
cochez la case Enregistrer les requêtes d'indexation dans le journal de l'application si vous souhaitez conserver les requêtes d'indexation de l'archivage :

Configure the print queue
To configure the print queue:
-
from the Main Menu, Production section, click on Printing queues, queue groups & pools;
-
in the queues list, select the queue on which you want to apply the archiving;
-
click on the Edit properties
button; -
on the horizontal menu, click on Archiving to access the section;
-
in the Queue properties, Archiving section, configure the spools archiving:
-
click on the
button to save the new queue configuration; -
At the end or this configuration, the print-jobs are saved in the Watchdoc Archives folder.
Apply a rule on the print queue
In order to allow Watchdoc to archive only certain print jobs, a rule should be applied to designate the print jobs involved in archiving:
-
from the queue management interface, click on the Policy tab;
-
in the Document submission interface, click on the
Edit button of the queue filters; -
in the Events on a queue interface, select a predefined filter to catch the documents you want to archive (in the example, the predefined filter Always is not very specific, as it selects all documents);
-
in the Action list, select the action Archive the document and continue ;

-
click on the
button to validate the configuation on the queue.èFrom that point onwards, all files that meet the filter criteria are saved in the designated ‘Archive’ folder.
Check the archiving procedure
-
From the queue for which archiving is configured, start a print job that meets the selection criteria;
-
check that the spool is correctly saved in the Watchdoc archive folder (C:\Program Files\Doxense\Watchdoc\Archives, by default);
-
collect the spools files in the Archives folder in order to analyse them or to send them to the Doxense® Support to be analysed.
