Configure a domain

Principle - How is scalability managed with Watchdoc?

Several Watchdoc servers can be deployed to meet the needs of companies that spread their printing load over several devices. All Watchdoc servers are then included in a Domain.

Within this domain, one of the Watchdoc servers is given the master role. The other servers are slaves.

Certain configurations made on the master can be replicated on the slaves, either from Watchdoc or from WSC, the Supervision Console.

In this way, the configuration is carried out only once and applies to all the servers.

Watchdoc can also be used to consolidate all the printing statistics from the various servers on the master.

The dialogue between the master and the Watchdoc Slavic servers takes place via a secure HTTPS protocol.

This is provided by the Watchdoc DSP module, whose default port is TCP 5753.

Use case

For a 3 print servers fleet, Watchdoc must be configured on each server:

By opting for deployment with Watchdoc master, the configuration is carried out on a single server and then replicated on the other 2. Any configuration changes made to the master will then be replicated to the Slave servers.
