Configuring the Management rule

Configuring the rule section

Use this section to enter the general information on the rule:

  • Name: assign an explicit name to the rule. Mandatory: this name is the one displayed in the administration interface.

  • Description:: where necessary, add a comment to the name to help describe the rule's intended use;

  • Mode: select one of the modes from the drop-down list:

  • Counter: this mode provides the user with a counter (which increases for every print job). When the counter exceeds a potential predefined ceiling, the user can no longer keep printing.

  • Debit : this mode provides the user with units of credit that are debited for every print job. When the counter reaches zero, the user can no longer keep printing.

  • Initial value: value with which the account is credited at its creation if operating in Debit mode.

Configuring the Quota's use section

Use this section to set the limits specific to each mode:

  • Ceiling:: tick this box to apply a ceiling and define, in units, the value of this ceiling. The manner in which the ceiling is applied depends on the chosen mode:

  • in Countermode, the ceiling is the maximum value that the counter can reach. Once this ceiling is reached, the counter is locked and must be reset (automatically or manually) for the user to be able to continue printing;

  • in Debitmode, the ceiling is the maximum authorised top-up amount. This setting is therefore used to create an upper limit to the amount of "virtual" money in all user VWs..

  • Authorised overdraft: tick this box to allow an overdraft and define, in units, the value of this overdraft, which allows a user to exceed the ceiling, regardless of the mode of operation.

Configuring the Resert section

Use this section to provide the settings governing account resets:

  • Periodicity:select from the list the frequency at which the accounts must be reset. The default value is Manual.

  • Date of effect if you opt to automate the reset by selecting a periodicity, provide the exact date of effect (date, month, day or time). If the date of effect is periodic, enter, in hours, the time between two resets.

  • Method: : select the method for topping up the user account from the list:

  • Define value: to reset the account to the defined value, regardless of the existing credit;;

  • Incremente:: in Debit mode, to credit the account with the specified value, which is added to any existing credit;

  • Reduce: :in Counter mode, to credit the account with the specified value, which is added to any existing value.

When opting for the Define value method, the units not consumed before reset are lost. Therefore, if an account is reset every month with a value of 500 units and if a user has only used 250 units in the first month, when his/her account is reset, he/she has 500 units available for the second month, not 750 units..
