Microsoft SQL® database for Watchdoc - Presentation

Context

In Watchdoc, the printing activity is registered in a statistic database.

Furthermore, if your organisation does not have any dedicated directory (Active Directory), a directory can be created in a MS SQL^® database.

Last, it's on a MS SQL^® database that the Guests directory (Guests database) is built. This database allows to manage users who are not present in the organization's directory.

It is then necessary to create a dababase before the Watchdoc installation.

Prerequisites

Before installing the MS^® SQL database, ckeck the following prerequisites:

• the database is not a MS SQLExpress database;

• the MS^® SQL version is compatible with the Watchdoc version (cf. the Watchdoc prerequisites);

• The MS^® SQL Management Service tool is installed on the server (free downladeable from the Microsoft^® site);

In the case that SQL server is remote (classical mode or remote mode), check that TCP/IP is activated in the SQL Server Configuration Manager.
Also check that the SQL Browser service is started, so that Watchdoc^® may display the available servers and instances list.
The TCP 1433 port must be open on the firewall for the instance.
The UDP 1434 port must be open on the SLQ Server Browser.
