Creating a controlled printing queue

Introduction

Watchdoc is used to control the devices print queues of devices installed on a server. Before creating printing queues in Watchdoc, the devices must have been installed using the Print Manager.

Accessing the configuration interface

  1. from the Watchdoc® Main menu, Configuration section, click on Printers and devices;


  2. you access the Printers & devices interface, under the All devices tab:

Creating a controled print queue

To submit a print queue to Watchdoc® control:

  1. from the Printers and devices list, click on the Devices not controlled button:

     

  1. In this list are displayed the devices declared on the server, but not controlled by Watchdoc. To allow Watchdoc to manage a device, click on Take control of the device button at the end of the line:


è you access the Create a new print queue interface, composed with several sections. The Device section diplays information associated to the device when declared on the print server.

If the number of the queues to create is important, you can also use QueuesCreateTool utility (cf. How To ? document - Using Queue Creation Tool).

Changing the IP/DNS address of a print device

If necessary, you can change the IP/DNS address of a print device after configuring it in Wathchdoc.

  1. From the Main Menu, Operations section, click Print Queues.

  2. In the Print Queue Properties interface, in the Monitoring section, change the IP Address parameter and save the new queue configuration.

 

Note: If you wish to change the IP/DNS address and port of a print device, you should use the MS Windows® Print Manager to make the same change in the ‘Shadow’ queue associated with the print device.
