"Quota not found" error message after authentication

June 2020

Context

After authentication of a user came to release his print-jobs on a device, the error message "Quota not found" is displayed and blocks the device.

Cause

This errror is caused by the configuration of Custom Quotas applied for the automatic payment on a printing queue: if several filters are configured and that none of them satisfies the condition, Watchdoc can't find any quota to debit, that causes error.

Solution

 To avoid this error, you can add the following rule in the configuration of the custom automatic payment:

  • filter: select the filter by default "Always";

  • quota: select a quota you have defined before as zero, limited or unlimited.

This way, no user or print job causes an error. In fact, if the quota is :

  • zero: the job is not printed, but an explicit message is displayed ("quota exceeded") and the user can access other functions of the device;

  • limited: printing is released thanks to a quota dedicated to this type of use, with a credit allocated to this type of case, which is useful in the case of pricing for printing;

  • unlimited: printing is unlocked and the credit allocated to this type of case is not controlled.

Some administrators use the "Always" rule with an "unlimited" quota by confi- guration economy, when there is little printing restrictions(for example, all employees of a company can print without limit, except when print-jobs are large format documents in color for which there is a limited quota).
