When starting a print job, a user defines their print preferences, such as color or black and white, single-sided or double-sided, and the number of copies desired.
These choices may not correspond to the printing policy implemented by the organisation Indeed, the latter may favour eco-friendly printing options such as double-sided printing instead of single-sided, black and white instead of colour, and limiting the number of copies.
Thanks to the Spool Transformation feature introduced in Watchdoc v. 5.1, the administrator can suggest (or require) that users adopt the printing choices specified in the organisation's printing policy.
This proposal is displayed in the WES when the user releases his print jobs.
Suggested (or imposed), this function, which relies on a spooler specific to Watchdoc (‘custom spooler’), allows:
a colour print request to be converted to black and white printing;
a single-sided print request to be converted to double-sided printing;
a reduction in the number of copies initially requested.
To implement spool transformation, you should:
check that this function is compatible with the brand and model of the device (see the compatibility table);
follow the procedure for activating spool transformation, which requires configuring rules, applying these rules to the print queue, and activating the function on the print queue.
