Watchdoc Print Client for Android® - Presentation
Presentation
Watchdoc Client for Android® allows a user with an Android® cell phone to launch a PDF print thanks to the Watchdoc Print API (proprietary protocol developed by Doxense allowing to manage prints).
Watchdoc Client for Android allows:
-
to secure the flow by encryption (Watchdoc https) ;
-
to transfer the authentication (Watchdoc) ;
-
to apply finishing options to the PDF file before printing ;
-
to route thePDF spool to the printing device (Watchdoc).
Principle
Watchdoc Print Client for Android allows to send all requested PDF print jobs to the printing device in https.
All flows pass through port 5753 and are encrypted using a certificate embedded in the API.
The Watchdoc Print Client relies on a Watchdoc discovery server to search for available print queues on a primary print server.
Each time a user initiates a print request, the port checks the print server for availability before sending the job. If the server is unavailable, it asks the discovery server to find a new available print server.
If the discovery server is down, Watchdoc Print Client for Android keeps print server information cached to ensure printing continuity.
