Problem of the Unclassified documents in reports
Oct. 2022
Context
Occasionally, in the print reports, some of the documents on the list appear as "unclassified".
Cause
The problem occurs when Watchdoc is not able to extract the file extension from the spool.
This may be related to the Print Queue configuration setting that allows Watchdoc to replace the document title with generic text in the print history (Print Queue configuration > Expert Mode section > Title setting > Replace the title... setting).
This also may be related to a spool error.
Resolution
To solve this problem, you should:
-
Disable the parameter replacing the title of the documents;
-
Create a rule that allows Watchdoc to associate an extension with print jobs generated by a business application.
-
Set an event on the queue (or queues) affected by the problem, so that it can detect the business application when the rule is checked.
Configure the rule
(cf. Rules and filters for more information).
-
from the Main Menu > Management section, click on Filters.
-
in the Filters interface, click on Create a new filter and give it a name ("Application [application name]", for example, and, in the message "filter to detect documents of type [application name]")
-
configure the rules to discriminate the documents whose application type is unknown and whose extension corresponds to the one you specify in parameter:
Condition Parameter If true If false The document type is... unknown Continue Discard The title of the document contains... [extension du type d'application] Select Discard or otherwise Discard
Configure the printing queue (or queues)
-
From the Main Menu > Operation section > click on Print Queues, Queue Groups & Pools ;
-
in the list of queues, select the queue to which the rule should apply:
-
in the queue conguration interface, click on the Rules button;
-
configure the event: in the "Secure printing" section, click on Edit ;
-
in the interface, configure the Events on the queue:
| Filter | Action | Parameter |
| Select the filter previously configured [Application...] | Define the application type to... |
"Business Application" or indicate the explicit application name. |
-
Repeat the event configuration on all affected queues or queue groups.
