  1. In the Advanced Configuration interface, click on Notifications:

    This takes you to the Notifications interface, which has two sections: Status and Events:

Configuring notification events

  1. In the Events list, click on the Edit button corresponding to the event to be modified.

  2. In the Event configuration interface, the information in the Event Id. and Descriptionsections is non-modifiable system information. Some events are triggered by non-modifiable criteria or thresholds:

    • Accounting payment problem: when the quota level reaches the critical threshold of 10%;

    • Device unreachable: from the first attempt to communicate with the device. It is therefore advisable to use this event only for analysis and diagnostic purposes;

    • Service operation error: if the system is unable to execute a scheduled task relating to Watchdoc, is unable to contact the database or if the MS Windows spooler is faulty;

    Other events depend on configurable criteria:

    Specify how the notification is to be sent:

    • E-Mail: tick the box if you wish to send the notification via E-Mail:

      • Message: default message associated with the event;

      • Targets: enter the value corresponding to the message recipient in this field. If there is more than one recipient, separate them with a semicolon (;).
        The valid values in this field are :

        $USER The owner of the print job, when known, or the technical support entity in charge of the print queue.
        $QUEUEADMIN The administrator in charge of the print queue that the notification is configured for.
        $QUEUESUPPORT The technical support entity in charge of the print queue that the notification is configured for.
        $QUEUEQUOTA The person in charge of the VP and quotas for the print queue that the notification is configured for.
        $ADMIN The Watchdoc server administrator.
        $SUPPORT The technical support entity in charge of the Watchdoc server.
        $QUOTA The person in charge of VP and quotas for this Watchdoc server.
        $REPLYTO Return address for this Watchdoc server.

When an event for which you have configured a notification occurs, an email is sent.
For example, an email corresponding to the ‘Document waiting ($JOBSPOOLED)’ event is sent when a user has started a print job and needs to validate it.

  • Windows Popup - Send a message by Windows notification: tick the box to activate the opening of a Windows window when the event occurs;

    • Message: default message associated with the event;

    • Targets: enter the value corresponding to the message recipient in this field. If there are several recipients, separate them with a semicolon (;).

When an event for which you have configured a notification occurs, a pop-up window is displayed on the user workstation.
For example, a pop-up window corresponding to the event ‘Document waiting ($JOBSPOOLED)’ is sent when a user has launched a print job and needs to validate it.
