Watchdoc is a product whose activity can be tracked in files known as (event) logs. Having these files allows you to understand how Watchdoc works and, consequently, to identify the cause of any malfunction when it occurs.
By default, logs and traces (which allow you to track the path of a request) are not enabled in Watchdoc. You must therefore enable them (see Enabling logs and traces) before you can use them.
Once logs and traces are enabled, the various activities of Watchdoc, WSC, WES and WPC are recorded in the logs, which you can collect (see Collecting logs).
To make reading event logs easier, you can enable syntax highlighting using the Sublime Text® tool.
If you are unable to understand the malfunction, you can contact Doxense Support by opening an incident ticket in Connect. The Support team will ask you to describe the incident in detail and attach the logs so that they can analyse them.
If the issues relate to print count tracking, the Support team may also ask you to ‘capture the spools’ and send them over for further analysis (see Catch spools).
