In Watchdoc,
a quota is a credit of value units allocated for printing and assigned to a user or a group of users;
quotas are based on a specific database, named Watchdocpmv by default (SQL®-type), which is created and enabled during the initial installation of Watchdoc. The feature can be enabled and configured after the initial installation.
A quota can be linked to a currency unit when print jobs are billable to the user. The quota is then called “PMV: virtual wallet” (see Configuring Currency Units);
A quota is based on a pricing defined by the administrator. It is therefore necessary to have configured at least one price before configuring a quota;
The operation of the quota is defined using a management rule (see Configuring Management Rules) applied to a print queue;
A quota can be applied to a user or a group of users (group quota);
it is possible to apply two quotas to a queue, so that if the first quota is exhausted, a second one can be used;
a quota can be viewed and credited:
by the administrator (the company, university, or government agency) manually or automatically, at a predefined frequency, using a fixed value (see View, Credit, and Lock a Quota);
by the user themselves, manually, as needed (see “View Quotas” on the “My Account” page) and to top up their quota (credit a Paybox account from the “My Account” page). Note that the administrator must first have configured the ‘Payment’ section in the web profile (on the “My Account” page).
The dual quota allows a user to be assigned a credit managed by their institution and a credit managed by the user themselves from a recharge station or a website (such as Paybox®), for example. In this case, print jobs are automatically deducted from the second quota when the first quota is exhausted.
To configure a quota:
Verify that the feature is enabled and that the database for quotas is configured. If not, enable the feature and configure the database;
create a print queue (or a group of queues if the quota applies to multiple queues);
apply the quota to the print queue (billing > automatic payment)
See Configure printing quotas tuto
Quotas are applied when releasing print jobs, either:
from the WES; or from the “My Account” page.
Before releasing print jobs, users can check whether they have sufficient credit to print.
You can configure how a quota is credited.
Quotas can be replenished manually by the administrator or automatically. The reset (recharge) frequency can be configured in the management rule (see Configuring a Management Rule).
If the administrator authorizes the user to recharge their account, the user can do so via the My Account web interface, at a recharge station, or on a dedicated website (such as PayBox®, for example).
